NAS data recovery
A NAS is a storage system, not a backup. When the volume no longer mounts, the copy everyone assumed existed is usually gone with it.

A NAS is a storage system, not a backup. When the volume no longer mounts, the copy everyone assumed existed is usually gone with it.
Why NAS cases are their own discipline
Underneath the friendly interface sits a Linux system with a volume manager, usually Btrfs or ext4 on top of a software RAID. When the array degrades, the file system layer above it degrades too, and both have to be repaired in the right order.
The firmware repair function offered by the device is often the step that turns a recoverable case into a difficult one: it rewrites structures instead of reading them.

What we need from you
The drives, labelled with their bay numbers, and a short note on what happened and what was already tried. If the enclosure itself is suspect, send it along.
Snapshots, shared folder names and the approximate size of the important directories help us to start with what you actually need rather than with the largest folder.
What recovery costs
For this service the guide price is from 499 € including 19 % VAT. The binding price is fixed after the analysis – nothing is charged before that.
Analysis free of charge
We examine the medium and establish what work is needed. There is no charge for that.
Fixed price in advance
You receive a binding quote with a list of the files found. Only then do you decide.
No data, no invoice
If the agreed data cannot be recovered, you pay only the agreed return shipping.
Frequently asked questions
The NAS says the volume is crashed. Can I click repair?
Better not. Repair functions write to the volume. If the data matters, image the drives first – or let us do it.
Do you also work on encrypted shared folders?
Yes, provided you can supply the key or password. Without it the data stays encrypted for us as well.
One drive is missing. Is the array lost?
With RAID 5 or 6 usually not. With RAID 0 or a single-disk volume it depends entirely on the state of that drive.
